Business Development and Destination

Do you want to contribute to the continued development of Uppsala, strengthen the business climate, and attract investments? We are looking for a driven and engaged business developer who wants to work operationally and strategically with development and innovation in collaboration with the business community.

As a business developer, you will be part of the Business and Destination department at the municipal executive office. The department's mission is to create conditions for our local business community and a strong business climate together with colleagues within the Uppsala municipal group, as well as to increase Uppsala's attractiveness. We work with both strategic and operational efforts to enable new businesses to be created, existing ones to develop, and new operations to be attracted and established in the municipality. Under the brand Uppsala, we strengthen Uppsala as a place to live, work, establish, and invest in, as well as a place to visit.

Your Mission

Your mission is varied, and in this role, you will collaborate with many different functions and operations both internally within the municipal group and with external partners. The workday is operational, outward-facing, and proactive, and also includes documentation and administration.

In this role, you will:

• Engage in dialogue with the business community: Maintain continuous dialogue with local businesses in Uppsala to identify and proactively capture new needs and inform them about services aimed at businesses. The dialogue occurs both proactively and as needed, through company visits or larger meeting places such as Uppsala Meets. You are responsible for sharing knowledge and information with colleagues in the group.
• Initiate and drive development work: Take the initiative to drive and follow up on development work in close collaboration between the business community and colleagues in the municipal group. The work is based on the business program and action plan to develop Uppsala's attractiveness, skills supply, innovation and growth capacity, business services, land readiness, and infrastructure as well as procurement.
• Lead assignments and projects: Be responsible for leading and documenting assignments and projects with a high degree of collaboration to strengthen the local business community in Uppsala.
• Develop and follow up collaborations: Develop and follow up on collaborations and partnerships within the business promotion and innovation support system in Uppsala. This includes developing and following up on work within organizations that Uppsala municipality finances, such as STUNS and Uppsala Innovation Centre.
• Develop Uppsala municipality as a testbed: Identify needs and enable testing and evaluation of innovative solutions within the municipality's operations according to the Ignite process and within the framework of public procurement.

As a business developer, you play a central role in building relationships and creating opportunities for the business community. Occasionally, evening and weekend work may occur to meet businesses and partners at the right times. Varied tasks within business and destination may occur.

Your Background

We are looking for someone who is interested in development and actively wants to work for growth and service together with the business community. You have a relevant higher education, for example in technology, social sciences, or another equivalent field. The assignment requires documented experience from work in or close to the public sector, as well as experience in collaboration with many different actors and competencies. The assignment requires a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in both Swedish and English.

Experience in leading projects and working with product or service development is an advantage. Experience in collaboration and innovation between universities, the public sector, and the business community is also advantageous.

As a person, you are development-oriented, driven, and engaged, and you are good at structuring, planning, and prioritizing your work effectively. You enjoy working in teams and have good collaborative skills, relating to others in a responsive and smooth manner. You thrive in environments where you can use your strong ability to create, maintain, and develop professional relationships.
